Olivia and Austin's Colorful Carnival Wedding
Olivia and Austin's love story began in college when Olivia's roommate set them up on a romantic date. Their journey, featured in the New York Times, led them to envision a wedding that breaks away from tradition. When they approached us at Fierce Productions to design their special day, we were thrilled. Their desire for an elevated, interactive experience was clear from the start.
“We were thinking of a carnival theme (games, food trucks, fun!), but basically, the goal is to give attendees other fun things to do besides sitting and eating.”
At Fierce Productions, we love the concept of interactive weddings. To bring their vision to life, we aimed for a tasteful yet extravagant approach. Collaborating closely, we conceptualized a reception inspired by the romance and playfulness of a carnival. Carnival settings are inherently interactive and sensory-rich, offering an ideal backdrop for celebration.
Our design palette featured vibrant purples, oranges, and pinks to contrast against the venue's brick backdrop. Romantic hanging lanterns, mismatched linens, and mini carnival centerpieces enhanced the atmosphere, complemented by the flicker of black candles. For added excitement, we incorporated arcade games for guests to enjoy, alongside a stilt walker and a wine bike, ensuring a memorable and engaging experience for all.
WHAT WAS FIERCE ABOUT THIS WEDDING:
They had a stilt walker AND a wine bike from Newmoon Chicago. Both were non-traditional ways to keep guests engaged.
They had carnival games during cocktail hour like Ring Toss, and Down the Clown.
To help guests bond, they had a ‘matching card game’. Guests’ seating arrangements were on pictures and guests could find a match with other guests.
