A Whimsical Feywild Wedding

Weddings are always magical, but when you base your wedding design theme on The Feywild then you can bet the wedding has an extra touch of ✨ magic✨.

Maureen and Jon reached out wanting, “people to feel like they partied in the Feywild, a place filled with fey and fairies and surrounded by wildflowers and nature. Basically imagine the lighting/feel of the show Euphoria but in the Feywild. I want to feel like I just had the best damn time surrounded by life, nature and people.”

They wanted a way to celebrate their shared love of fantasy, Dungeons and Dragons, and their spiritual love of each other on their wedding day. We were honored to get to work with them, and transform a venue into an “overgrown oasis”. The Arbory in Chicago already offers gorgeous, organic scenery with tons of greenery dispersed around the architecture, so InFlorEssence got to just enhance the space with whimsical floral design; playful wildflowers, a few fairy lights, and some more eucalyptus and palm leaves to give the space a “natural overgrown feel” as if guests had stepped into a different world. We even added hanging sparkling crystals for that extra magical touch.

To start the day, the couple and wedding parties shared a sound bath experience. Everyone shared cleansing breaths on the AirBnB rooftop as audio waves created a calming experience before a non-stop day. After first looks and some group photos at the Garfield Park Conservatory, the couple arrived at the venue ready to get married.

The couple shared their vows in front of whimsical arches while the rings were passed through the crowd for all to touch, warm up, and leave loving energy upon. When it was time for cocktail hour, guests could get a custom poem created by a live poet, or leave some wishes for the couple at a mini wishing well. As the night went on, great conversations were had as guests snacked on breads and cheese, read hand-written letters, and even opened little bottles with ice-breaker questions in them. It truly was a celebration of great connection and conversation, as guests danced the night away in “the Feywild.”

Fierce Moments:

The wedding parties started their day with a sound bath and with tarot cards. It was a beautiful way to calm any nerves, sync up everyone’s energy, and feel pleasant before a long day.
There was a live poet writing custom poems for guests during cocktail hour. They could leave a prompt, and then collect them at the end of the night as a wedding favor.
At the gift table the couple had a little wishing well for good guests to leave positive wishes.
They had “flower-adults” act as some wildflower fairies leaving a trail of petals before the processional.
Guests knew were to sit because each seat had a hand written note for each guest. It was a lovely touch to share how grateful the couple was for each person.
Maureen and Jon love getting to meet people, so they had Alice in Wonderland styled “drink me” bottles with little ice-breakers in them. Guests could get to meet each other through these tiny little notes.
Maureen changed into a gorgeous dress during the reception and rocked some hot pink boots and a veil. It was so much fun. (Also Maureen’s nails were stunning!)
